Foundation Years | 45 International Foundation Year (IFY)/ International Degree Programme (IDP) Why study this course? The International Foundation Year/International Degree Programme provides an excellent preparation for degree level study for overseas students. It is suitable for students whose current academic qualifications and/or English language level do not allow direct application to the first year of a Bachelor’s degree programme. The course prepares you academically for your future studies but also enhances your learning skills, employability and integration into British culture and society. What will this mean for my future? Our course allows progression to degree courses in all subjects across business, science, the social sciences, humanities and health. International students wishing to study on the following Health Degree Programmes after a Foundation Year: Adult Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy or Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging) should apply for the Health Foundation Year. IELTS requirements vary for different Health related courses. Refer to the International Foundation Year entry requirements web page. INDICATIVE MODULES The course content is flexible and designed individually for each student, drawing on a wide range of Foundation Year modules. You will take a mixture of core skills modules together with academic modules related to your chosen degree programme. Additional English language training is available as necessary. UCAS CODES Y002 Y008 International Foundation Year (1-year foundation course) International Degree Programme (4-year degree programme) Progression to first year of a degree programme (subject to successful completion of Foundation Year with required threshold marks and a new visa being obtained) Progression to the next year is guaranteed, subject to successful completion of the Foundation Year with the required threshold marks. Indicative entry requirements English language IELTS level of 5.0 and 5.0 in all subtests Visa information A visa will be granted for the duration of the IFY and a second visa will need to be obtained for the 3-year degree stage.
