Business Management and
International Relations
BA (Hons)
Why study this course?
On this course you will develop awareness and understanding of international
politics as well as a range of business subjects such as leadership, strategy,
organisational behaviour and quality management.
Taking modules in both subjects, you will learn about the micro and the
macro factors affecting everyday life, human behaviour and decision
making as well as the actions and policies of entire governments and regions.
Business Management and International Relations offers an interesting
honours combination that introduces you to the important relationship
between the two disciplines. By understanding both the business driven
and the politically centred structures and systems that shape our world,
and by exploring how those not only inform but also direct economic
and political action by individuals, states, businesses and organisations,
you will explore a range of approaches to the study of both international
politics and business. Alongside the ‘nuts and bolts’ of business practices
such as human resources, supply chains and accounting, you’ll consider
the historical, socio-political, economic, gender and geographical structures
and interactions in the international system, and you will investigate
how these impact upon the practice of business on different levels. This
course can be combined with a placement, study abroad and additional
language modules.
What will this mean for my future?
You will develop a wide range of skills in research, analysis, critical
thinking, oral and written communication, and presentation, which are
relevant to a diverse range of future careers. You might work in business,
or work as an economic or political analyst, journalist, or in the civil
service. For example, Jonty Bloom, BBC Business Correspondent, studied
International Relations at Keele. You may seek a career working for an
international organisation or aid agency, you may work for an international
bank or multinational corporation. Opportunities to study abroad and to
learn a language whilst doing your degree add further desirable skills and
experiences that will enrich your career.
