188 | Forensic Science This exciting area of science at Keele provides a solid understanding of relevant sciences through research-led teaching and a hands-on learning environment. You will gain a strong understanding of how science is used in a legal context whilst exploring issues as varied as genetics, toxicology, arson, ballistics, digital forensics and drug analysis. From the crime scene to the lab and onto the courtroom, you’ll learn to recover, analyse and interpret evidence, and to defend it as an expert witness. In an increasingly globalised world, you’ll consider the importance of standardising forensic approaches. Working in these facilities enables a smooth transition from the academic environment into employment post-graduation. Our modern laboratories contain state of the art analytical instrumentation as well as the industry standard equipment you would expect to find in a forensic laboratory. Our Crime Scene House and extensive outdoor spaces allow you to practise the skills you developed in the laboratory in real world settings. keele.ac.uk/forensic As an accredited provider of forensic science programmes we can offer a range of routes in Forensic Science including single or Combined Honours (see below for full list) and the option to progress onto our Integrated Master’s (MSci) programme (see page 191).
