Work integrated units
This course will open you to new and critical
ways of thinking through a curriculum that
connects you to knowledge and activities across
a wide selection of study areas.
It is designed to expose you to important skills
that can be transferred to your future workplace
such as the ability to access reliable and
trustworthy sources of information, and to
interpret and critically evaluate important facts,
opinions and key debates which you will then
communicate through critical writing.
You’ll develop awareness of important issues
and debates in areas such as contemporary
journalism practices, gender and sexuality
studies, history and world politics, human
psychology, and new developments in media
and communication practices.

Critically analyse the media industries and learn

Psychology
A study of mind and behaviour, psychology is
a broad scientific discipline that includes
investigations of the brain, learning, memory,
reasoning, decision making, language,
developmental and social processes, personality,
and mental health and well-being.
Journalism studies (minor)
Cultivate a passion for the news while focusing
on journalism both as a professional and
disciplinary practice.
Writing (minor)
Introduces you to a range of writing practices in
the context of communication and media
studies, cultural theory, and literary studies.
Course structure
The course is made up of 24 units. You must
complete one Arts major and one Arts minor,
along with Arts Electives and Free Electives.

> The Major – Eight units from the same area
of study
Film, television and screen studies
Study the historical, textual and critical
approaches to film and television, and related
new screen technologies. > The Minor – Four units from the same area
Gender studies
Understand the ways in which our bodies are
sexed, gendered and sexually oriented, how
these relate to debates on sexual and
reproductive health and rights and the plurality
of sexualities, with a focus on Asia. > Free Electives – Eight units from the same
Global studies
A multi-disciplinary area of study that focuses on
global political, economic, social and cultural
trends, their interaction with states and local
communities, as well as their role in cooperation
and conflict in the global system.
