It is designed to expose you to important skills that can be transferred to your future workplace such as the ability to access reliable and trustworthy sources of information, and to interpret and critically evaluate important facts, opinions and key debates which you will then communicate through critical writing. ● Screen studies (minor) ● Journalism studies (minor) Course Structure The course is made up of 24 units. You must complete one Arts major and one Arts minor, along with Arts Electives and Free Electives. The detailed course structure is as follows: You’ll develop awareness of important issues and debates in areas such as contemporary journalism practices, gender and sexuality studies, history and world politics, and new developments in media and communication practices. ● The Major - Eight units from the same area of study Areas of Study ● Free Electives - Eight units from the same area of study or from different areas of study. ● Communication ● The Minor - Four units from the same area of study but different from your major ● Arts Electives - Four units from any area of study in the Arts. ● There is flexibility in how you can structure this section: you can use the eight units to pursue a second major; or two minors; or a minor plus electives; or just electives.
