Gwynedd Mercy University
2024-2025 Undergraduate Catalog
biology students gain a broad foundation in the physical sciences , with required coursework in chemistry , physics , and mathematics . Students who graduate from the program automatically earn a minor in chemistry with their degree . The program provides training in modern laboratory skills , utilizing current technology that is applicable to research in a graduate program and in demand by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies . All students in the biology program must complete a research experience , providing practical , hands-on experiential training that is critical for future employment or graduate study .
Graduates from the biology program possess the knowledge and skills to succeed in graduate or professional ( medical , dental , veterinary , physician assistant , physical therapy , etc .) school or in employment in a variety of fields , and our students are employed or in a graduate program , within a year of graduation . The biology program offers the opportunity for eligible students to apply for Early Entry to the Master in Public Health program . Students who are approved may take up to 12 credits of coursework from the MPH degree program , which will count as undergraduate open electives and may also be used towards the MPH degree .
