Scholarships , Grants and Loans
Scholarships and Grants Scholarships and grants are considered “ gift ” aid , which means the funding does not need to be repaid . However , some of this funding may require that students meet certain requirements . For example , recipients of university scholarships must be enrolled on a full-time basis and must have full-time tuition charges assessed on their billing statement ( recipients of tuition waivers may not be considered for university scholarships in addition to waivers ). In addition , institutional scholarships and grants can be awarded for a maximum of eight semesters for students pursuing a bachelor ’ s degree .
Financial aid received from public and / or private , external sources must be reported to the Financial Aid Office . This may require an adjustment in either the total amount and / or kind of aid provided in the student ’ s financial aid package .
Merit Awards for Full-Time Campus Undergraduate Students Gwynedd Mercy University offers several MERIT AWARDS , which are based on a student ’ s academic record and / or involvement in extra-curricular / community service activities . These Awards are offered to new , first-degree or transfer campus undergraduate students who will be enrolled full-time .
Students who qualify for Merit Awards will be notified at the time of admission to the University . Merit awards may be renewed for two more ( transfer students ) or three ( first-year students ) years if recipients continue to meet eligibility requirements . The Merit Award will be the first component of any need-based financial aid award .
Athletic Scholarships : As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ), Division III , the University does not consider athletic ability in the awarding of scholarships and grants .
Institutional Grant Funding Eligibility for Institutional Grant funding is based on a student ’ s financial need , which is based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ). Need-based institutional aid is contingent on full-time , on-campus enrollment in a university degree program , and satisfactory academic progress .
Federal Pell Grant The Pell Grant is a federal aid program , which provides grant funding depending on the student ’ s eligibility as determined by the results of the FAFSA using federal methodology . To receive consideration , the student must submit a completed FAFSA and be enrolled for at least three credits per semester in a degree or certificate program . The Student Financial Aid Office will include available Pell Grant Funding as part of an eligible student ’ s comprehensive financial aid package .
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant ( FSEOG ) The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a federal aid program , which provides grants ranging from $ 100 to $ 4,000 annually to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need . Priority for the FSEOG must be given to Pell Grant recipients . FSEOG eligibility is determined by the results of the FAFSA . This grant may not exceed the Pell Grant amount awarded per semester .
Pennsylvania State Grants ( PHEAA ( Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency )) The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency provides state grants ranging from $ 100 to $ 5,000
