This course will provide students will a broad overview of the field of public health in the United States and around the globe . Students will understand the purpose and breadth of public health and explore the impact it has on their own and others ' lives . In addition , students will also be introduced to the people and organizations who do the work of public health and the challenges they face . |

Health Behavior and Health Education |
This course will examine the relationship between behavior and health and explore the many factors that affect health behaviors including the social determinants . Health behavior theories will be explored to understand underlying causes of individual and community behavior . Students will explore strategies for affecting and changing behavior as a strategy for protecting or promoting health . |

In this course , students will examine the role of policy in health and healthcare , comparing systems of healthcare in the US and other countries . Students will learn strategies to influence health policy and act as advocates for public health . |
