Math Methods Middle L Grades 4-8
The course emphasizes the basic mathematical competencies identified by the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Mathematics and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics critical to mathematics instruction for middle s c h o o l teaching . Students will learn the pedagogical methods and strategies combined with the essential mathematical theories of number operations , algebra , geometry , fractions , data analysis , probability and statistics through demonstrations , collaborative learning , modeling and field experience . This course is intended for the junior level .

EDU-373 Methods & Materials Mid Grades : sciencThis course is designed to familiarize students with objectives , methods and resources for grade 4-8 science and to further enhance the scope of their science knowledge through lecture , class discussion , projects and student demonstration . The course will introduce student to Academic Standards developed by NSTA and PDE . Students will develop lesson plans , based on Danielson ' s four domains , utilize effective instructional strategies , including cooperative learning and other evidenced-based best practices as they apply to the sciences , and will be involved in a hands-on , constructivist mode of teaching / learning .
