Microbiology for the Health Sciences
An integrated lecture and laboratory course utilizing case studies to introduce students in the health sciences to the world of microorganisms and issues they may face involving microbes in the field of health care . Topics will include the structure and function of microorganisms , their growth and control , as well as their role in infection and human resistance and immunity . Basic handling and identification of microorganisms will be discussed in the laboratory component . For nonbiology majors only . 3 lecture hours per week and 5 laboratory sessions / recitations per semester . Not accepted as credit towards the biology major .
