Federal Exit Counseling
Students who have secured loans ( Perkins , Nursing , or Direct ( Subsidized / Unsubsidized )) will receive an exit counseling letter ( s ) if they :
• Graduate from the University
• Drop all of their courses during a semester or drop to less than 6 credits
• Formally withdraw from the University
• Enroll in a semester at a rate of less-than-half-time ( less than 6 credits )
• Unofficially withdraw from the University ( stop attending all classes during a semester without formally notifying the University or failing to enroll in a subsequent semester )
Scholarships , Grants and Loans
Scholarships and Grants Scholarships and grants are considered “ gift ” aid , which means the funding does not need to be repaid . However , some of this funding may require that students meet certain requirements . For example , recipients of university scholarships must be enrolled on a full-time basis and must have full-time tuition charges assessed on their billing statement ( recipients of tuition waivers may not be considered for university scholarships in addition to waivers ). In addition , institutional scholarships and grants can be awarded for a maximum of eight semesters for students pursuing a bachelor ’ s degree .
Financial aid received from public and / or private , external sources must be reported to the Financial Aid Office . This may require an adjustment in either the total amount and / or kind of aid provided in the student ’ s financial aid package .
Merit Awards for Full-Time Campus Undergraduate Students Gwynedd Mercy University offers several MERIT AWARDS , which are based on a student ’ s academic record and / or involvement in extra-curricular / community service activities . These Awards are offered to new , first-degree or transfer campus undergraduate students who will be enrolled full-time .
Students who qualify for Merit Awards will be notified at the time of admission to the University . Merit awards may be renewed for two more ( transfer students ) or three ( first-year students ) years if recipients continue to meet eligibility requirements . The Merit Award will be the first component of any need-based financial aid award .
Athletic Scholarships : As a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ), Division III , the University does not consider athletic ability in the awarding of scholarships and grants .
Institutional Grant Funding Eligibility for Institutional Grant funding is based on a student ’ s financial need , which is based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ). Need-based institutional aid is contingent on full-time , on-campus enrollment in a university degree program , and satisfactory academic progress .
Federal Pell Grant The Pell Grant is a federal aid program , which provides grant funding ranging from $ 400 to $, 6,895 depending on the student ’ s eligibility as determined by the results of the FAFSA using federal
