Social Work Research Methods
A critical examination of research methods found in both quantitative and qualitative methods of research in social work . Foundations of research , including research design , ethics , conceptualization , measurement and the logic of sampling , leading to the creation of a proposal for original research by the student . Outside exercises also familiarize students with different research methods , techniques of observation and the reading and evaluation of published research . This course will emphasize the use of research in social work practice and understanding the use of evidence-based methods in social work practice . SWK-400

Social Work Capstone
The mission of the Bachelor of Social Work degree program is to develop professionals who are competent in the skills and knowledge necessary for work in the various fields of social work . This capstone class is designed as a way for students to demonstrate social work skills , develop an e- portfolio of their work , and contribute to the community through a service project . Through writings , role plays , lectures , e-portfolio development , and a service project , students will demonstrate their mastery of the program goals of the social work degree program . ( Senior standing )

Social Work Field Placement I
After consultation with Director of Field Placements advanced students will be provided direct experience in selected supervised settings in social work agencies and programs . The field placement aims to provide a service to the community and enable the student to acquire the skills , experience , and knowledge necessary for the choice of a career .
