This course provides an overview of the various techniques and strategies of marketing in the sport environment . Areas to be covered include the processes of the strategic sport marketing , market research and analytics , the segmentation process , the identification of target markets , database and relationship marketing , sponsorship , corporate partnerships , and the development of the sport marketing mix and sponsorship packages . Students will build an integrated marketing plan for a sport organization and event by first describing how the five P ’ s of sport marketing are applied in sport . |

This course is designed to prepare the prospective sport manager with an overview of the major financial issues facing the sport industry . An analysis of the following areas will be undertaken : sources of revenue for sports organizations , a comparison of public and private sector funding in sports , and investment of public resources into private sporting facilities . Students will analyze financial concepts and theories and their application in the professional , intercollegiate , recreational , and commercial sport industries . Topics include revenue and expenses of professional , intercollegiate , and private sport industries , issues affecting these revenues and expenses , fundraising at the intercollegiate level , ownership in sport , and public and private funding for non-profit sport programs . |
