Leadership : a Question of Chromosomes ?
This course will introduce students to theories of leadership with a special emphasis on women . In a world traditionally dominated by male leadership , this course will explore the challenges and prejudices that women face when seeking and attaining leadership roles that often call for nonconventional and radical approaches . This course will introduce both historical and contemporary women who have adapted theories of leadership , through determination and grit , which has paved the way for the mantra " the future is female ." The course addresses the Sisters of Mercy critical concern of women and meets the University ' s definition of writing intensive .

Meeting these needs presents unique challenges . This course focuses on the understanding , inclusion , and appreciation of people with special needs and their families in order to support the integration of people with disabilities into community life . The objectives provide for evidence- based practices that allow professionals to best meet the needs of these individuals and their families in a variety of disciplines . Since this course focuses on increasing the quality of life for an often oppressed segment of our society , it addresses the critical concern of non-violence of the Sisters of Mercy : Earth , nonviolence , women , racism , and immigration . This course meets the University ' s definition of writing intensive .
