Respiratory Theory I |
Study of the principles and theory in the administration of medical gases , humidity and aerosol therapy , lung expansion therapy , bronchial hygiene , infection control and basic physical assessment . Additionally , this course will provide an introduction to artifical airways and airway care . An overview of basic sciences applicable to respiratory care will also be provided . |

This course will address the various diagnostic tools and modalities routinely utilized by a respiratory therapist . Topics will include arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation , pulmonary function studies , methacholine challenge , bronchoscopy and basic electrocardiogram interpretation . |

This course will serve as an introduction to the care and management of the patient ' s airway . Additionally , it will provide an introduction to the design , development , initiation , management and discontinuation of continuous mechanical ventilation . |
