Introduction to Unix and Linux
This course introduces students to the Linux / Unix operating systems . Beginning with a brief history of Linux and Unix , students will learn how to determine the best distribution ( distro ) to download and install based on organizational needs . Fundamentals such as system , commands , utilities , text editing , processing utilities , and permissions will be covered . This course is required for Computer Forensic / Cybersecurity majors because it is essential for running many forensic and penetration testing software . Web Design and Multimedia students are required to take this course because it is an integral part of LAMP .

Computer Applications in Business
This course gives students a cursory overview of the 3.00 major computer based business systems found in businesses today . Systems that will be looked at include E- commerce , Accounting Information Systems , Human Resource Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems . In addition , the course will explore how knowledgeable workers can solve typical business problems through the use of advanced Microsoft Office features found in Word , Excel and Access .
