Program Description : With GMercyU ' s accredited Accounting Program , you will gain a solid background in accounting principles , taxes , auditing , finance , and business theory . If you want to build a career as a Certified Public Accountant ( CPA ) or put your accounting chops to work in the business world , consider our bachelor ’ s in accounting with a CPA track or our accelerated 4 + 1 MBA option . Whatever your career goals , our program and dedicated faculty will help you achieve them . In fact , in 2018 , GMercyU ' s high CPA exam pass rate ranked the program 16th in the nation for similar-sized accounting schools , according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy . And , for the past several years , 100 % of students in the CPA track have landed jobs after graduation , even during the 2020 pandemic . This program offers a 4 + 1 MBA option . Students should meet with their advisor in their junior year to apply to the 4 + 1 program .
Preparation for Professional Licensure The CPA Track helps to prepare students to sit for the CPA exam after the required work experience has been met .

PLO7 Prepare , present , and interpret financial statements using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP ). PLO8 Demonstrate proficiency with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles . PLO9 Demonstrate proficiency with taxation issues , returns , and planning . PLO10 Demonstrate proficiency with measures used to evaluate and manage businesses .
Track : Accounting – CPA Track The CPA Track is an academically challenging program which will offer the accounting major the opportunity to earn 150 credit hours in 4 years . To do this the student will be required to attend school part-time in the summer of their sophomore and junior years . The students in this program in addition to the traditional Bachelor of Science in Accounting will take additional courses in Intermediate and Advanced Accounting and several additional business courses and an additional internship . This is the result of new education requirements to become a CPA .
The accounting major in the School of Business offers the following options :
Students having a 3.5 GPA and with the endorsement of the accounting faculty will be able to complete the 150-credit hour requirement in 4-years ( six credits will be taken in the summer of the sophomore
