Academic Progress : Maintenance of 2.5 GPA ; probationary periods and program dismissals are determined by the Program Director in consultation with other philosophy faculty should a student fall below the 2.5 GPA minimum .

PSYCHOLOGY
Program Description : Students with a university major other than psychology may earn a minor in psychology by completing six courses ( 18 credits ): PSY 100 , PSY 111 , and four PSY electives . Students must earn a “ C ” or better in all courses in the minor .
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : A grade of C or higher is required in each of the courses required for the minor . Academic Progress , ( Probation ), and Program Dismissal : A student may achieve less than a “ C ” grade in only two courses for the minor and he / she may repeat these courses only once . If a student , regardless of his / her cumulative grade point average , achieves less than a “ C ” grade on a third course for the minor , or fails to bring all grades up to a “ C ” with one repeat he / she will be dismissed from the
program . Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the program coordinator or the Dean .

RELIGIOUS STUDIES
Program Description : The religious studies minor offers an 18-credit concentration in the academic study of religion , focusing on distinctive , often multidisciplinary , or interdisciplinary , approaches to the study of religion , thereby strengthening students ’ interpretive and critical thinking skills . Coursework in the study of religion facilitates students ’ recognition of diversity within and across traditions and helps students to identify and interpret religion ’ s impact across the globe , underscored by an orientation to the Mercy “ critical concerns .”
