Academic Progress , Probation , and Program Dismissal : Should a student fail to earn a grade of “ C ” or higher in any of the courses required for the minor , the student will not earn the minor .
COMPUTER INFORMATION SCIENCE

Program Description : If you have a GMercyU major other than computer information science ( CIS ), you may earn a minor in CIS . The Computer Information Science program combines the fundamental problem-solving capabilities of computer science with hands-on experience in several areas of CIS , including programming , networking , cybersecurity , computer forensics , artificial intelligence , machine learning , data mining , database development , web design , multimedia , and mobile applications . Internal Transfers : Students interested in adding a minor in the Computer Information Science program may do so at any time but must have earned a GPA of 2.5 or higher prior to being accepted into the program . Internal transfers will meet with their current advisor and the CIS program coordinator to discuss their interest and the requirements of the program .
External Transfers : Any student who has been enrolled in a regionally accredited post-secondary school of higher education and accepted into Gwynedd Mercy University as a transfer student may apply for a minor in computer information science . The Registrar ’ s office will conduct a transfer equivalency analysis of the applicant ' s completed credits . A maximum of six credits from another college or university can be applied to the CIS minor . Course credits from another accredited institution will be accepted if they correspond to the courses offered at Gwynedd Mercy University and if the course grades are C or higher ( C- is not an acceptable grade for transfer ). The Program Coordinator will review all transcripts and course descriptions from the sending university to determine course equivalency .
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : Grades of “ C ” or higher are required in each CIS course . A student may achieve less than a “ C ” grade in only two courses and may repeat these courses only once . If a student , regardless of cumulative grade point average , achieves less than a “ C ” grade on the third course , or fails to bring all grades up to a “ C ” with one repeat , the student may be dismissed from the minor .
Academic Progress , Probation and Program Dismissal : Students must earn a grade of “ C ” or better in CIS 104 , CIS 114 , CIS 215 , CIS 321 and two additional CIS courses at the 200-level or above for a total of 18 credits . Students with ≤ 2.0 GPA may be dismissed from the program .
