program expectations , and requirements . They must then submit an application to the public health degree program .
Transfer Students : Any student who has been enrolled in a regionally accredited post-secondary school of higher education and accepted into Gwynedd Mercy University as a transfer student may apply for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Public Health program . The Registrar ’ s office will conduct a transfer equivalency analysis of the applicant ’ s completed credits . Course credits from an Associate of Science , Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree program in Public Health will be accepted if they correspond to the courses offered at Gwynedd Mercy University if the course grades are C or higher ; C- is not an acceptable grade for transfer . The Program Director will review all transcripts and course descriptions from the sending university to determine course equivalency . Students who are graduates of associate degree programs in public health that have articulation agreements with the BSPH program will be admitted as per the agreement . As with all transfer students , a minimum of 50 credits and a minimum of half of the major requirements must be completed at Gwynedd Mercy University .
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : The minimum passing grade for all required courses in the major and their prerequisites is “ C .” A student may achieve less than a “ C ” grade in only two major courses and their prerequisites , and they may repeat these courses only once . If a student , regardless of cumulative grade point average , achieves less than a “ C ” grade on the third major course , or fails to bring all grades up to a “ C ” with one repeat , the student may be dismissed from the program .
Attendance Policies : Same as University
Academic Progress , ( Probation ), and Program Dismissal : Students will meet with their academic advisor every semester to discuss their academic progress and upcoming courses . Any major or prerequisite courses in which the student achieved less than a “ C ” grade will be discussed and documented to ensure the student understands the academic requirements for the Public Health program .
Course Withdrawal Policies : Same as University
Experiential Learning : Students enrolled in the Public Health program are required to engage in a public health internship course , which allow students to put theory into practice , observe professionals engaging their field of study , practice their skills under the supervision of seasoned professionals , network within their chosen field , and gain valuable experience . Public health internships will be planned and finalized during the public health professional seminar course . Students should consult with their academic advisor the year before they expect to complete their field work . Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities .
Non-Academic Criteria for Admission , Progression and Retention
Compliance Requirements and Clearances : Students are expected to comply with any health , safety or professional conduct requirements of their public health internship sites .
Professional Disposition and Conduct : Public health professionals are expected to interact respectfully with all stakeholders in oral and written communications , and to be sensitive to cultural practices and norms of the communities with whom they work . Students within the Public Health program are expected to develop and practice these skills in their courses and internships . Any student who behaves in a manner deemed disrespectful to others by their instructor or internship preceptor will be referred
