This course will provide students with an introduction to health communications . Students will learn how to develop and implement effective , accessible , ethical , and culturally appropriate health communications . In this course , students will review key public health organizations and compare systems of healthcare in the US and other countries . Public health management and leadership skills will be introduced , including those needed for implementing health interventions .
In this course , students will develop an understanding of the field and methods of epidemiology . Students will examine disease surveillance systems around the world and explore strategies used to understand disease cause and spread and to improve population health . Take MTH-234 or PSY-111 . Students in this course will examine quantitative and qualitative research methods commonly used in public health . Students will learn to critique and design public health research . An emphasis will be placed on ethics in research design and implementation .

In this course , students will integrate their understanding of human health , determinants of health , health data , research , and strategies to affect health into the development of health education and promotion interventions designed to meet the needs of communities . Limited to Public Health majors .
