This course is a survey of dying as a social act and includes examination of selected topics , social concepts and attitudes on death and dying , social methods of dealing with death , effects of death on social groups , demographic concepts , euthanasia , and legal aspects . This course is designed to acquaint students with various forms of activities structured to meet the physical , social , and intellectual needs of the aging population . This course provides students the opportunity to explore topics selected by the instructor . Course may be repeated if the topic changes . This course provides an introduction to the psychological , sociological and physiological dynamics of abuse , dependency , and addictions and an overview of counseling intervention models designed to help the student identify and become familiar with current counseling approaches in the treatment of addictions . May be taken for sociology credit .
