This course will be a one-semester continuation of the Latin I collegelevel introduction to Ancient Latin . The progression from Latin I will involve a more sophisticated treatment of vocabulary , grammar , pronunciation and translation . While the content of instruction will consist mostly of Classical Latin ( the Golden and Silvery Ages ), the pronunciation will be ecclesiastical . Study of the theory of immunohematology . Emphasis is on antigen systems of red cells and antibodies produced against these as related to blood transfusions . Included will be methodologies used , the importance and hazards of transfusion of human blood and blood components , quality assurance , and the regulations governing blood banks . Performance of methodologies and problem-solving techniques in immunohematology , to include cross-matching , antibody identification , preparation and transfusion of blood and blood components , and transfusion reactions . Theoretical aspects of routine hematology and coagulation procedures are covered in detail . Normal cellular elements of the blood and bone marrow and coagulation factors are covered and correlated to appropriate hematology techniques .
