The purpose of this course is to complete a research project in the field of criminal justice . Utilizing classroom and online dialogue , each student will complete a literature review , create a methodologicallysound research instrument , and conduct an investigation on a specific aspect of the criminal justice system . The end product for each student will be a final research paper that entails a discussion of the relevant literature in the field , the methodology chosen to complete the research , and the analysis of the data that they collected throughout the semester . Further , each student will present their research in such a fashion to explain the relevance of their research and the contribution they have made to the existing literature . The goal of this class is for each student to complete their own research project , from the beginning stages of finding a researchable topic to the presentation of a final research report . In consultation with the instructor , students will engage in a service project relevant to their research . |
