Gwynedd Mercy University AY2022-2023 Undergraduate Academic Catalog statistics within the last 10 years .
The following criteria and prerequisite courses are required to be considered for ABSN and Weekend BSN admission .
• Anatomy & Physiology I + Lab
• Anatomy & Physiology II + Lab
• Microbiology + Lab
• General Chemistry II + Lab or Gwynedd Mercy University ’ s Chemistry 111 +
• Lab
• Principles of Nutrition ( taught by a Registered Dietician )
• Statistics
• Developmental Psychology ( must cover across the lifespan )
Internal / External Transfers
For Students Transferring to the BSN Program from Other Nursing Programs Students applying to this BSN program who may have taken nursing courses at another institution , may be able to transfer some courses ( if they achieve a " C " or higher and the courses are comparable in content and credit value ) to facilitate movement into the Gwynedd Mercy University Nursing Program . The student may be asked to challenge the Gwynedd Mercy University course content through examination to validate if he / she has the comparable course content . All nursing courses from another nursing program will be evaluated on an individual basis . Admission procedures as stated previously apply for these students . A minimum earned 3.0 GPA is required for admission .
For Students Transferring to the BSN Program from within the University Students who have been admitted to another major at Gwynedd Mercy University and who express a desire to transfer into the nursing major ( BSN Program ) must contact the Coordinator of the BSN Program and be evaluated for admission into the nursing program . Students must have completed at least one semester at Gwynedd Mercy University . Students are permitted to apply once to the Nursing Program .
Transfer evaluation is based on the following :
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• No grade below a C (“ C minus ” is not acceptable ) is acceptable in any university course
• All science courses require no grade less than a B minus . After receiving an acceptance notification letter for the nursing program , the student must complete a change of major form signed by the Assistant Dean of the FMMSNHP . The student can begin the nursing major courses in the next Fall semester but may continue to take general education and science requirements in the intervening semester .
Program Admissions Requirements and Procedures for Admission of Licensed Practical Nurses to the BSN Program : Licensed practical nurses ( LPN ) may receive credit through the life experience process for NUR 209 Fundamentals of Nursing Practice provided they have fulfilled the following criteria :
• Have been licensed by examination in the state of Pennsylvania ( LPN )
• Have been accepted into the BSN program in compliance with admission policies for all students who apply for the BSN degree nursing program
• Have met the requirements for those accepted into the nursing program
• Have met the non-academic criteria for admission and retention
