Removal from a Pre-Student or Student Teaching Placement : Students are assigned one ( 16 weeks ) or two ( eight weeks each ) field experience ( s ) for Student Teaching . If a student is withdrawn from a field experience at the request of the assigned school administrator , the student will receive a grade of F for that specific experience . The school administrator will have reached the decision to request removal of the student teacher in collaboration with the cooperating teacher and the GMercyU field supervisor . The student may be permitted to repeat the student teaching experience the following semester if recommended by the GMercyU field supervisor , the GMercyU student advisor and the Coordinator of Field Placement . The recommendation must be approved by the Dean of the School of Business and Education .

Child Abuse History Clearance All students enrolled in the Education Programs are required to have a Child Abuse History Clearance . This is accomplished by completing a Child Abuse History Clearance Form . Application is available online at

Criminal Record Check All students enrolled in the Education Programs are required to have a Criminal Record Check . This is accomplished by completing a Request for Criminal Record Check form . Forms are available online at :

FBI Fingerprinting Check All students in the Education Programs are required to submit an FBI Record . The registration information is available online at :

TB ( Tuberculosis Test Validation ) Proof of a TB test must be delivered to the Field Work Coordinator at the beginning of each academic year .
The background checks described above require students to have a U . S . Social Security Number .
Professional Disposition and Conduct : PDE requires the formal monitoring of appropriate dispositions for the teaching profession . In line with this , the program has a formal method for monitoring and supporting the appropriate dispositions for the Education profession . When applying for Pre-Student and Student Teaching , students complete a Disposition Self-Assessment .
