This course introduces the student to factors governing the choice of modality for treatment as well as principles of simulation . Also , includes factors affecting dosage delivery from both the physical and mechanical standpoint . 2 hours lecture . Orientation to the clinical area with particular emphasis on patient care , simulation techniques , treatment positioning , charting , and setting of treatment parameters on console . 8 hours daily , 3 days per week . One hour of recitation is scheduled per week .

This recitation course compares and contrasts the clinical experience the students observes and participates during their clinical experience , Take RTS-200 RTS-202 RTS-203 RTSemphasis is on treatment procedures , simulation techniques and 204 RTS-208 RTS-209 RTS-307 . patient care . The class meets one hour per week as part of RTS 204 . ( Required , Concurrent ).
This course covers the technical aspects of radiation therapy treatment techniques , as well as a review of relevant clinical oncology . Take RTS-200 RTS-202 RTS-203 RTS- Includes : site specific simulation and treatment set-up parameters ; 204 RTS-204R RTS-209 RTS-307 . treatment reactions ; procedure specific treatment aids . 3 hours ' ( Required , Concurrent ). lecture / lab per week . This course covers the clinical aspects of radiation oncology and the multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of the cancer patient . Topics covered are : site specific epidemiology , etiology , clinical workup and diagnosis , anatomy & physiology , histopathology , staging and grading , rationale for treatment selection and prognosis . 1.5 lecture hours per week . The student therapist engages in the daily activities of the radiation oncology department while participating in the medical dosimetry , brachytherapy , treatment unit and simulation rotations . 8 hours per day , 3 days per week . One hour of recitation per week .
