This course provides opportunity for investigation of a selected topic or topics designed to integrate and deepen the student ' s comprehension and application of health science theory andpractice .
Qualified advanced students may arrange independent study in areas not covered by existing courses . Registration is with the consent of the involved faculty and permission of the dean of the school and the vice president for academic affairs . The Special Topics in Human Services independent study provides the opportunity for students to select a research topic for in-depth review to further their understanding of the issue and its implications for the field of Human Services . Topics must be approved by the Instructor . Students will work independently to complete research / literature reviews , conduct informational interviews with Human Services professionals , and create projects to fulfill the learning objectives of the independent study . The Instructor will meet with students to review progress periodically though the semester as indicated in the class meeting schedule . With the permission of the Human Services Program Coordinator , senior level students will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate skills learned throughout the Human Services degree program . Through writing assignments , role play , lecture , site visits , portfolio Take 90 credits . ( Required , Previous ). development , and a service project that contributes to the field , students will demonstrate their mastery of the program goals for the Human Services degree . In this course , students will be introduced to the purpose and value of the practicum experience , the practice of reflective thinking and Take HSV-435 or HSV-436 . ( Required , journaling . This course is a pre- or co-requisite with HSV 435 and HSV Concurrent ). 436 .
