Gwynedd Mercy University
AY2021-2022 Undergraduate Academic Catalog
Internal / External Transfers – Transfers are considered on a case-by-case basis . Please contact Integrated Studies program director for more information .
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements : Students will audit up to four university courses per semester ( 10-15 credits ) related to their academic and employment goals . Given the audit credential , students will not earn a letter grade or GPA , but will receive feedback from faculty on assignments throughout the semester and will receive a final evaluation of their academic skills , progress toward learning objectives and narrative feedback which will be used to determine satisfactory academic progress .
Academic Progress , Probation , and Program Dismissal Audited Credits : Students in Integrated Studies will audit Gwynedd Mercy University courses . Such courses can range from 1-15 credit hours in a given semester . Collaboration between the student , Integrated Studies staff , the professor of the class , and the course syllabus will occur to determine to identify and quantify the student ’ s goals and progress for that course , because students will have modified expectations through the audit program . The data gathered from the student ’ s attendance , participation , assignments , and feedback from the student , peer mentors and the professor , etc . will be used to determine if the student made academic progress equivalent to meeting 75 % of their goals throughout the course .
Academic Probation : Because a student in Integrated Studies will be auditing classes , academic probation will be determined not by GPA , but will be considered based on their academic progress in audited courses . If a student does not complete 67 % of their credits audited ( as determined by their Learning Agreement for Audited Courses ), then they may be placed on academic probation .
Academic Dismissal : Academic dismissal occurs if a student on academic probation does not return to satisfactory academic standing at the end of the following semester in which they did not complete 67 % of attempted credits audited . For Integrated Studies students , a discussion between the Program Coordinator , the Registrar and Office of Academic Affairs is warranted to determine if a student ’ s potential academic probation status is a result of attempting to take a course for credit unsuccessfully , or if it is related to their non-completion of attempted audited courses . The student on academic dismissal for the first time will not be able to register for or attend classes at the university or in the Integrated Studies program for one year . Dismissed students who wish to re-enter must apply for readmission to Integrated Studies . Dismissal may also be considered based on non-academic program components , such as excessive absences from required program components ( internships , goal-setting meetings , and mentor sessions ) or related to noncompliance with the university ’ s policies ( such as that related to college appropriate behavior , violence , aggression , safety compliance etc .).
