Evaluation.
My overall thoughts about this project have been quite mixed emotions, I really enjoyed doing the creative aspects of the project my favourite being creating a digital magazine of images that I had created myself. It was really rewarding to see it all come together and see all the images correspond to the brand image itself. Another part I enjoyed was creating the range plan, I think it is really interesting working out the prices for the pieces as well as looking at different fabrics.
However with the research section was quite challenging for me, because I consider myself quite creative and a lot of what I know is from previous projects, I feel like I couldn’t include a lot of research done using different websites or books, it was more common knowledge I had gained from my previous two years being at the FRA. However I did thoroughly enjoy researching the things that I did have too, such as looking at trend reports and looking at social media for different things such as flat lays and influencers promoting different items that they have been sent through PR, even watching different influencers opening PR packages was considered my research which I quite enjoyed.
I feel like what went well is the fact I managed to keep on top of a lot of my work, during the project, I used the timetable I created at the beginning of the project to map out the key points I had set myself as well as setting time boundaries for when to complete it by, which I think did help me a lot. I was able to manage my work load more efficiently by setting my work out in an even amount to do each week. However planning this did let me know that I wasn’t able to do a new task each week, and I had to spend more than one week on a few different tasks. Which, then led me not having to do certain things. Such as my promotional video that I had planned to film, I realised that by the time I had finished the previous work I had set it was two weeks past the video deadline. So instead of creating more work for me to do, I simply decided to focus on my promotional images more.
I think the next time if I ever was to do a project like this again, I would try and come up with as much research about different aspects on creating a brand before I start, as well as maybe looking at more of the marketing side of retail. As when I was doing my project I seemed to find that I kept creeping into the marketing side, rather than sticking to PR. As they are quite similar to each other, and looking at my work. When I was designing my Pop up shop, I decided to create a brief press release. Which could of got confused with marketing.
Overall, I really did enjoy this project and I think it was a good project to end on, by letting me fully create something I could in vision working out and being successful, I feel like I have strongly found what parts of the fashion retail I enjoy the most, that being Buying and Styling.
