Conclusion
To conclude , the presentation of reality and illusion allows for real life implications and anxieties to be explored through the illusions of the dream world in The Company of Wolves and the digital world that is explored in The Matrix . The use of the ‘ double ’ in both films is integral in creating a connection between reality and the world of illusion . The anxieties in both films are based on the characters and the audiences being uncertain , thus , Freud ’ s explanation of the familiar being made ‘ unfamiliar ’ reinforces our understanding of why those particular scenes induced anxiety . Although in very differing ways , the exploration of the body and the mind provide a better understanding of the ways in which anxieties manifest , with them being exacerbated through the use of physicality . By making the messages “ overelaborate ”, the anxieties are communicated more effectively due to the exaggeration created by illusion .
