The People Shall Govern! Local Participatory Governance in Post-Apartheid South Africa

South Africa has seen a racial conflict that lasted for centuries in what some referred to as
colonialism of a special type. This only officially ended in 1994 and that might have an effect
on the work needed for democratic innovations to succeed and ensure participatory
governance. Nonetheless, post-apartheid South Africa promised a government where the
