LIVANAGE NELLINNE ANTOINETTE PERERA is a Master of Research candidate
in Music at Keele University. Nellinne is supervised by Professor Rajmil Fischman
(Music) and Dr Alexandra Lamont (Psychology). Her research includes a comparison
between Music for improved well-being and quality of life, and similar leisure
activities such as hand-knitting. Nellinne completed her BSc in Music and
Psychology in 2011-2014 and is a private instrumental tutor in Piano and Theory of
Music.

TOM PRESCOTT studied computer science and music technology at Keele
University. He completed an MRes in music which investigated the application of
genetic algorithms to the control of granular synthesis and spatialisation techniques.
Currently, he is in the third year of a PhD funded by the Keele Research Institute for
the Humanities, investigating approaches to composing electroacoustic music with
genetic algorithms. This research focuses on conveying a sense of causality and
transparency to an audience when genetic algorithms are used in live performance.
