Perfect Time to moisturize. Massage a hand crème or lotion all over your hands and nails to replenish your skin. Over the years I’ve come across many that I like and have used for various reasons. The Avo Juice Skin Quenchers from OPI has been a favorite for years for the many fragrances. Currently, the Q Smart Spa luxury lotion from QTICA is a new favorite. For those with aging skin, try the Strivectin Volumizing hand treatment, it’s a great age fighting moisturizer that helps to prevent loss of elasticity. Prep nail for Polish. After moisturizing, please remember to remove any oils from the nails by using a cotton pad or Q-tip with nail polish remover. Polish will not adhere properly with oil on the nail. Polish the nails. Start the nail polishing process with a primer such as a base coat or ridge filler. A base coat protects the nails from stains from the polish and it helps the polish to last longer. Polish two coats of a desired polish, allowing drying time between each coat, and finish with a top coat. Apply top coat every few days as a way of touching up your manicure. And there you have it, the steps to a perfect manicure. It doesn’t matter if you are getting your nails professionally done or doing them yourself, please remember to take care of your hands and nails by protecting them with sunscreen, make sure they get plenty of moisture, and take very good care of your cuticles.  Janice shares her must haves, beauty tips and more in each issue of UnCommon!
