SPOTLIGHT ANDY THE PANDY’S Tell us a little bit about yourself and the band; how did you all meet, how long have you been playing together, etc. Well, I started playing under the name about 10 years ago. I write and record all the music myself for the albums, and then I enlist the help of my musician friends when we play live. So the line-up for live shows has been constantly changing for most of that time. Our current line-up, however, has been pretty consistent (for the most part) for the last couple years. Most of those guys I met through different circles of friends, or by chance having bonfires in an abandoned slaughterhouse parking lot. What got you involved in writing music for the Unbound Project? My mom (Kathy) and I were brainstorming about something interesting and fun that we could do to make an impact on the community and help educate people about human trafficking, and the idea for Unbound just sort of unfolded over the next few weeks. 27 | SPOTLIGHT Was the process of writing for Unbound different than your normal songwriting process? If so, how? It was definitely a lot more challenging. I’m not used to writing songs about specific topics, so it was difficult at first for me to try to direct my writing at one idea. It’s also a pretty rough subject to write about without being too insanely depressing (which I have a tendency to do), so that was another challenge. What does music do for you in your life?
