Alexandria Neely From sun, sand and sea to watching the seasons change, Alexandria Neely grew up on a small island in the Bahamas. She travelled 1,258 miles to the city of London to work hard and fulfill her dreams. Alex is a vibrant, aspiring fashion designer. From a very young age she knew what she wanted to do with her life; from crafting to painting to drawing and dressing up, fashion was all she could dream of. Upon finishing this spring, she hopes to further build her career in fashion by developing her skills and gaining experience in pattern- drafting, technical drawing and designing. Voyage was ultimately inspired by her culture in the Bahamas. As the theme is diversity she thought it would be an inspiring idea to show the world what diversity means to her and the diversity of her country, through color and textiles. With the use of soft, lightweight and flowy fabrics, a resort-wear collection came to light. The bright colors of the print speak to the bright sun on the beach and the colors of a beloved Bahamian Junkanoo Festival going down “Bay.” The flowers of the print express the blooming flowers of the summer, seen at that ‘oh so enjoyable’ tropical destination. 18 2019
