REGGIO EMILIA EDUCATIONAL APPROACH FCUIS KINDERGARTEN

Reggio Emilia at Fundación Colegio UIS: exploring, building, transforming and creating
A school that listens to children
At Fundación Colegio UIS, learning is understood as a journey that begins with curiosity. Every child arrives at school with questions, ideas, emotions and a particular way of looking at the world. The Reggio Emilia approach invites us to recognize that potential and to create experiences in which children can investigate, make decisions, work with others and express what they discover.
This perspective changes the traditional image of the classroom. The child is not simply waiting to receive information; the child participates, proposes, experiments and gives meaning to learning.
The teacher becomes a careful observer, a guide and a designer of meaningful experiences, capable of turning a question into an opportunity for discovery.
In this way, the classroom becomes a place where mistakes are part of the process, questions open new paths and each discovery can lead to another possibility.
The hundred languages of childhood
Children do not learn or communicate in only one way. They think through words, drawings, movement, music, construction, dramatic play, science, mathematics, images and relationships. These multiple forms of expression are known as the“ Hundred Languages of Children”, a concept associated with Loris Malaguzzi.
At Fundación Colegio UIS, this idea encourages us to look beyond a single answer and to value the diferent ways students make their thinking visible. A drawing can reveal an idea, a conversation can open an investigation, and a construction can become the beginning of a solution.
Our learning journey: four levels, one purpose
EXPLORERS – The power of curiosity. Explorers observe, ask questions, play and investigate. They learn that wondering is the first step toward understanding.
