PROGRAM BUILDING BLOCKS
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Primary goal: Help student-athletes learn about and improve leadership skills
in the classroom, on their team, and within the community.
TERPS Leadership Academy: Seminars that provide student-athletes an
opportunity to gain knowledge, practice effective leadership skills and teach valuable
insights that transition into a “real world” environment
Women in Leadership Development (W.I.L.D): Outlet for women student-athletes
to voice thoughts, feelings and concerns with one another
Men in Leadership Development (M.I.L.D): Outlet for men student-athletes to
voice thoughts, feelings and concerns with one another
SAAC AND MENTORSHIP
Primary goal: Prepare for life after college sports enhancing the total student-
athlete experience and cultivating leadership skills and service initiatives.
TerpsGiving: Partnered with Shop Rite and the Amazing Grace Church student-
athletes provide 200 Thanksgiving meals to families in need in the Baltimore area
Terps Got Talent: Raise funds for Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.
while student-athletes showcase their diverse talents on the stage, not just on the field
Adopt a Family: Each team is paired with a family in the surrounding area to
provide holiday gifts for their family in need
