Learning Support Services
Learning Specialists help student-athletes by
providing the following:
Educational support through individualized
academic plans designed to promote
independent learning for academic success
Structured assistance for student athletes
by providing supplemental instruction in
areas of academic skill acquisition
Assistance with the transition from high
school to university
Preliminary educational assessments and
evaluations while coordinating necessary
neuropsychological/psycho-educational
testing (when needed), while acting as GSAC
liaisons to the University of Maryland Office of
Accessibility & Disability Services
Oversight of academic accommodations,
assistive technology, campus and community
resources, and effective strategies to
facilitate academic success
