Madonna, of course, did not take this lying down. Addressing the criticism Sex received in her song “Human Nature” from the 1994 album “Bedtime Stories”, she sung: "Did I say something wrong? Oops, I didn’t know I couldn’t talk about sex. I must have been crazy,". Now considered as an important post-feminist work, it is crucial to understand the importance of Sex, whilst also considering it within our ever-changing culture. Female sexuality has indeed evolved massively in the 22 years since Sex was released- and that is why Ultravenus is here. If we cannot question and challenge everything that is proposed to us- current or not, from a feminist or misogynist perspective or anything in between, we would become stuck in the same kind of rut that left society needing feminism in the first place. On the whole however, we love Madonna, we love Sex, and we too, love sex.
