4000 ACRES OF HISTORY,
beauty and adventure in Hawaii
Big game fishing for marlin and Yellowfin
tuna, is a fantastic day adventure. If you
don’t have a suitable boat to head out to
the shelf beyond the reefs, join a charter
with an experienced crew. Charters
regularly depart for the reef where you can
fish for kingfish, snapper and tuna but they
will operate the big game charters when
the marlin and Yellowfin are out and about.
Narooma is the launch point for
Montague Island; a nature reserve that is
abundant with wildlife. Apart from staying
in the historic lighthouse keeper’s cottage
and enjoying the nightly penguin parade,
swimming with hundreds of fur seals off
the island is definitely one for the bucket
list. These puppies of the sea seem to
enjoy the human interaction they get from
swimmers, snorkelers and divers. Take an
underwater camera with you to capture
the moment one comes up close for a look
at who is in their aquatic backyard.
Batemans Bay is a fantastic dive
destination and namesake to the Batemans
Marine Park. From experienced divers to
novices, explore underwater caves and
mountainous walls of amazing rocks.
The ‘Maze’ is a signature dive of the bay
with colourful corals so bring a torch to
truly enjoy the colours of the underwater
garden. The Toll Gates Islands offer a
number of wonderful dive sites and
you can see 32 different Nudibrances
throughout the year. Montague Island
with its Australia and New Zealand fur seals
is reputedly one of the south coast’s bests
diving experiences.
While the waterways reflect a multitude

of blues, it’s the hinterland that provides
a dramatic backdrop to the coast with
more than 70% of the region made up of
lush national park and forest. Within this
spectacular landscape you can bushwalk,
hike, mountain bike or camp in beautiful
seaside locations or remote wilderness.
Mogo State forest has fantastic long runs
that are challenging for cyclists of all levels
of fitness or head east for a beach and
coastal ride from Broulee to Moruya along
the old coastal road. Narooma offers a back
road scenic ride that finishes in Central
Tilba or you can continue on to the oldest
velodrome in Australia at Mystery Bay.
Murramarang National Park north of
Batemans Bay offers a variety of walks
which traverse beaches, the mountain and
lake and showcases the stunning cliffs of
the Sydney Sandstone Basin along the
route. The remote but beautiful Bendethera
Valley in Deua National Park, is perfect as a
base for walkers and covers keen to explore
Bendethera Cave. The Deua River runs
through the valley which is teeming with
wildlife and in spring is awash with yellow
from the rare Bendethera wattle.
In Eurobodalla you can reach for the
skies - literally! With one of the country’s
best skydive companies, experienced

beaches, rivers, mountains and rolling hills
from more 10,000 feet above sea-level.
