ILS is Wales’ premier purpose-built medical research facility BUCANIER PROGRAMME Swansea University Institute of Life Science (ILS) is a purpose-built medical research facility. Itself a collaboration between the university and Welsh government, the ILS is also one of six partners in the BUCANIER project. Cultivating the spirit of Open Innovation, the Building Clusters and Networks in the Innovation Enterprise and Research (BUCANIER) operation is supported by €2.3m through the European Regional Development Fund project as part of the Ireland and Wales Programme. BUCANIER works directly with the Life Sciences, Food and Drink, and Renewable Energy fields as complementary industry sectors across the two nations.
