Huybre
Brothers Set
When Kim and Ronny Huybrechts sat back and awaited the
draw for the 2014 Ladbrokes World Darts Championships
all they would have asked of Wayne Mardle and Rod
Harrington was to be kept apart in the first round.
Mardle and Harrington, who were performing
the draw live on Sky Sports News in
the UK, were obviously not party
to this information however and
somehow they managed to draw
the brothers together in a field
of 72 players, leaving Kim and
Ronny to curse their luck.
Before the pair last met in a
competitive competition at
the William Hill Grand Slam
of Darts back in November
Kim told the PDC, “Before
the tournament when people
ask who you don’t want to
play, a lot of people would
say Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis
or James Wade, but I would
say Ronny.”
“I’ll prepare as if he’s any other
opponent and when I’m on the stage I
just want to beat whoever is in front of me,”
he added.
“I love my brother to bits and he’s my best friend, and I’d do
anything for him - but when we get up on stage he will be my
biggest enemy!”
Whilst the brothers themselves may not be relishing their first
round encounter you can be sure that darts fans everywhere were
rejoicing when the draw came out, with the social media talk on
the day of the draw revolving around the all Huybrechts first round
encounter.
