Saturday November 2nd was a perfect opportunity for those
outside the top 16 to make a mark on the darting world as the Ricky Evans 6-5 Jamie Caven
Players Championship moved on to it’s thirteenth event of the

year in Wigan.

It was Brendan Dolan who seized the opportunity with both hands, as
the Northern Irishman claimed a maiden PDC title with a 6-3 victory
over Ricky Evans in the final.
Brendan Dolan 6-5 Kevin McDine
Semi-Finals
Dolan dropped only three legs in his opening three encounters of the
event as he overcame Dan Russell, Dean Winstanley and Vincent van
der Voort to reach the quarter finals, where he was a 6-5 winner over
Kevin McDine.
Ricky Evans 6-1 Ian White
The Northern Irishman then set about demolishing Austria’s Mensur
Suljovic 6-1 in the semi-finals, setting up a final encounter with
Kettering-based youngster Ricky Evans.
Brendan Dolan 6-3 Ricky Evans
Evans produced some clinical finishing in the early stages of the final,
racing into a 3-1 lead, before experience allowed Dolan to fight back
and level the match.
Dolan then produced legs of 14, 14 and 11 darts to run away with the
encounter, the 6-3 victory securing his maiden PDC victory and the
£10,000 first prize.
“I’m really happy and it means a lot to win one of these tournaments,”
said Dolan. “It’s my seventh final on the floor and eighth in total and it
feels so good to win something.”
