Robert Thornton secured a second Pro Tour victory of 2013 Quarter-Finals
with a 6-5 defeat of Jamie Caven in the final of Players
D Webster 6-0 John Henderson
Championship 11 in Killarney on Saturday 19th October.
The Scotsman dropped only five legs as he secured victories in his first
three matches against Kevin McCann, Nick Fullwell and Vincent van
der Voort, before wins over Alan Tabern and Mark Walsh saw him safely
through to the last 4.
A 6-5 victory over an in form Dave Chisnall in the semi-finals then
helped to set up a scintillating final with Caven.
In the final the opening two legs were shared with each player landing
a 12-darter. The next two legs were also shared before Thornton landed
a break of throw in the fifth, only to be pegged back to three all as
Caven secured a break of throw himself.
Caven then pulled in front at 4-3 and again at 5-4, but with Caven
on the brink of victory Thornton held his nerve to level at 5-5 before
securing the £10,000 first prize with a 15-darter in the deciding leg.
