Gino Vos became the third Dutch player to reach the second round on home soil as he fought off a comeback from the experienced Richie Burnett to hold out for a 6-4 victory. The remaining three Dutch stars in action all suffered first round defeats, with Jelle Klaasen being edged out 6-5 by the Bolton-based Ross Smith, Jerry Hendriks falling 6-2 to Colin Lloyd and debutant Davy Verkooijen losing out to Andy Hamilton, again by a 6-2 scoreline. Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts got his campaign off to a flying start as he averaged over 102 in a 6-2 victory over Dean Winstanley. He was joined in the second round by brother Ronny, who whitewashed former World Youth Champion Aaron Monk with a fine performance. Photo: Carlsten Aarlt/PDC Europe
