Raymond van Barneveld got his campaign off to a
flying start with a 5-2 victory over World Youth
Championship runner-up Ricky Evans. The Kettering
based youngster acquitted himself well in the
match, but was perhaps slightly overawed on only
his second ever televised appearance, leaving the
vastly experienced Barneveld to secure an opening
game victory.
Mervyn King came back from 4-1 down against Tony
O’Shea to force a deciding leg, but in the end it
was O’Shea who prevailed, coming through their
