England’s Garry Thomspon ensured he would be playing at the
2014 Lakeside World Darts Championships after a 6-5 victory
over James Wilson in the final of the 2013 BDO British Open on
Sunday 22nd September.
Thompson had earlier enjoyed victories over Scott Mitchell in the semifinals and Tony O’Shea in the quarter finals and had also overcome Gary
Stone and Jonathan Hewitt in the earlier rounds.

Wilson’s run to the final included victories over David Hobson and Lutz
Leutzsch in the early rounds and Cameron Menzies and Robbie Green in
the quarter finals and semi-final respectively.
The ladies title was claimed by Deta Hedman, who overcame rival Trina
Gulliver 5-3 in a closely fought final. Hedman had earlier defeated
Krissie Long, Sharon Prins and Rachel Brooks.
