Deta Hedman completed her second Winmau World Masters
victory, an amazing 19 years after winning her first title in
1994. The current BDO ladies number one overcame Cindy
Hayhurst of Canada in the last 32, before moving on to defeat
Grace Crane of Norway 4-2 in the last sixteen.
Another close contest saw the WDF World Cup Singles Champion edge
our Irina Armstrong in a deciding leg, before a 4-1 victory over Fallon
Sherrock in the semi-finals set up a final encounter with Rachel Brooks.
Brooks herself came through some tough draws, defeating Anna
Forsmark and Claire Stainsby during the early rounds, before moving
on to book her place in the final with victories over Maud Jansson in the
quarter finals and Ailenn de Graaf in the semi-finals.
In the final it was the experienced Hedman who had the edge from the
start as she raced in to a 2-0 lead. Brooks did claw a leg back, but in
the end Hedman had too much and emerged a 4-1 winner, joining the
likes of Trina Gulliver, Julie Gore and Francis Hoenselaar as a multiple
World Masters Champion.
