There was a nine-darter from Phil Taylor on the first day of play, Simon Whitlock and James Wade made early exits and we witnessed a phenominal amount of 100+ averages. In the end though it was Phil Taylor, Andy Hamilton and Wes Newton who qualified for the winners group from the first three days of action. Championship League Darts 2 Phil Taylor hit a nine-darter on his way to claiming victory in Championship League Darts Group 1. ‘The Power’ topped the league table on leg difference over Adrian Lewis, but it was Lewis who claimed first blood over the sixteen-time World Champion, as despite Taylor’s nine-darter Lewis was able to claim a 6-5 victory in their round robin match. Andy Hamilton claimed victory in Group 2 of Championship League Darts when the action continued on September 25th. Wes Newton made it third time lucky in Championship League Darts Group 3 on 26th September with a 6-4 defeat of Dave Chisnall in a close final. Hamilton finished second to Dave Chisnall in the league phase of the live-streamed event, but after a 6-5 victory over Adrian Lewis in the semi-finals he was able to edge out Michael van Gerwen in a tense deciding leg during the final to book his spot in the winners group. Newton also came through a semi-final encounter with Kim Huybrechts having finished third in league phase behind Huybrechts and Michael van Gerwen. Taylor went on to defeat Wes Newton 6-2 in the semi-finals, before gaining his revenge over Lewis with a further 6-2 victory in the final. Meanwhile at the foot of the table Simon Whitlock and James Wade became the first to players to be eliminated from the event, leaving Adrian Lewis, Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall, Wes Newton and Andy Hamilton to move forward into Group 2.
